Claude Monet's diners

 8:30 - Pinakothiki Café-Restaurant, Leventis Art Gallery, Nicosia (5 Anastasios G. Leventis street, 1097)

The A. G. Leventis Gallery and the Pinakothiki Café-Restaurant, with the collaboration of the French Institute of Cyprus, are offering during March – the month of Francophonie – special culinary evenings with dishes inspired by the recipes of the great Impressionist Claude Monet.

‘I was always a hearty appetite, which did me no harm.’ Those who knew Claude Monet and had the privilege of sitting with him in front of a well-laid table described the attraction of the painter to good things. The recipes cooked at his house in Giverny are indicative of a bourgeois family lifestyle, but also of the true art of hospitality: a taste for quality products, a pleasure to welcome, to give and exchange... The painter was also a master of gastronomy.

Club français de Larnaca

  Sunday 3 March - Larnaca Municipal Theater

The Larnaca French Club as well as dance, theater and choir schools celebrate the Francophonie. Artistic works and drawings of elementary students who took part in the contest A child in Paris will be exhibited.Entrance free.

Ecole franco-chypriote

Screening of the animated film Maman est en Amérique, elle a rencontré Buffalo Bill. Director: Marc Boreal, Thibaut Chatel (France, 2013, 75', o.v. French with Greek subtitles). Synopsis: A small provincial town in the 1970s. Jean is six years old and has just started going to school. When the teacher asks each child to talk about his or her father's and mother's work, Jean, realizing that he is not like the other kids, gets worried and invents an answer: "My mom, she's a secretary."

Institut Public de Strovolos 

 Tuesday 19 March - 3:00pm - 4:30pm - Institut public de Strovolos

During the lesson of French B1.1 under the guidance of their French teacher Kleoniki Lagou, the students of the State Institute of Strovolos, will paint on t-shirts different regions of France featuring the cultural diversity of each one. After that, in groups the students will prepare a short presentation of each region.

Tuesday 19 March

Every year, all classes of the school (both lower and high school) participate to the celebration of the Francophonie. Pupils are willing to bring everything about French gastronomy and especially typical French desserts such as: “éclairs, crèmes brûlées, millefeuilles, crêpes, tartes aux pommes, macaroons” and many more. Pastries such as “croissants, pains au chocolat” but also the famous “quiche lorraine”. Other than that, students are encouraged to prepare drawings and posters for display in the hallways, lobby and school canteen.

All classes will participate to this special day: Crêpes, French music – poster exposition. The posters will be created by students of the 1st grade. During the 1st break, Crêpes will be sold.

Training for autonomous learning of the French language

The Alliance française of Limassol and The Language Center of the Cyprus University of Technology organise a workshop aiming at the autonomous learning of the French language.

Students will be acquainted with multimedia tools in order to also be able to proceed to an autonomous, interactive and playful learning of the French language.

The Alliance française de Limassol in collaboration with 1 2 3 Soleil private kindergarten organises a workshop for children.

You are welcome to come and learn basic French conversation through a virtual trip to Paris with lots of dancing, singing and creativity. Enjoy an hour of French full of fun!

The workshop will be delivered by Olga Georgiadou, instructor, trainer and researcher at the Language Center of the Cyprus University of Technology.
