The Exam

DELF-DALF Tout public is intended for young people and adults.

A1

There are 4 tests in total:
  • 3 group tests with other candidates in the same room
  • 1 individual test in which each candidate is alone in a room with the examiners.
Group Tests
  • Listening comprehension / 4 exercises
  • Answer comprehension questions on very short audio recordings
20 minutes
  • Reading comprehension / 4 exercises
  • Answer comprehension questions on four or five written texts
30 minutes
  • Writing skills / 2 exercises
  • Fill in a form and write a short text of 40 words.
30 minutes
Individual test
  • Speaking skills / 2 parts
  • Guided interview / Asking and giving information/ simulated dialogue
5 - 7 minutes
  • Each test is marked out of 25 points.
  • Passing mark: minimum 50 / 100
  • Minimum mark required per test: 5 / 25

A2

  • Comprehension questionnaires dealing with a text of ideas

  • - Summarise several written documents totalling 220-240 words maximum
  • - Write an essay of 250 words minimum

Individual test
  • Speaking skills / 2 parts
  • A presentation based on a series of written documents, followed by a discussion with the examiners.

C2

There are 2 tests in total:
  • 1 group test in which candidates should take the reading comprehension and writing tests at the same time, in a room with other candidates.
  • 1 individual test which includes listening comprehension and then a speaking test with 2 examiners.
Individual tests
  • Listening comprehension and Speaking / 3 parts
  • - Write-up the contents of a recording (played twice)
  • - Personal development based on the problem given in the recording
  • - Debate with the examiners.

  • Reading comprehension and writing
  • Writing a structured text (article, editorial, report, speech etc) based on several documents totaling approximately 2,000 words.

  • Each test is marked out of 50 points.
  • Passing mark: minimum 50 / 100
